Some new cards are hitting the app today, including one that I find to be very valuable considering some of the circumstances behind it. Here are some write ups on whether the cards are worth chasing for playability or collectability.

AL/NL POW – Carlos Beltran

Beltran has zero cards in the game, and this card is a doozy to have as his first. Carrying a 3x boost is a big deal first time around and I really think this is going to be one of the more coveted inserts of the week. Nice card.

AL/NL POW – Justin Upton

Playability Rating (This Week) –

Collectability – Strong

Here is the thing. Upton has been raking this week, but he has a big problem with the number of potential strikeouts. At a 3x boost, that is a big loss of points if he has a bad game.

Fired Up – Yadier Molina

Playability Rating  – 
Collectability – Strong

I love this set, and I think its going to stand the test of time in terms of value in the app. The “Pokémon” award (gotta catch em all) for this set isn’t huge, so current value will likely be long term as well.

Black Limited 3x Boost – David Wright

Playability Rating  – 
Collectability – Extreme

This is the first of what I expect to be many cards tied to in app money purchases, of which I think is a great win for those that can pull it. Wright is dropping off as of the last few years in performance, but he is still one of the more recognizable players in the game. The fact that only 250 of these will be given out is a big deal, and this may be on the level of a signature if no more are released.
