Big day yesterday for card releases, including a lot of new inserts worth discussing here. I am going to break down a few of the cards I really liked, especially two of the bigger ones released so far this year.

SR Russell Wilson Platinum Sig (200)

Collectability: Extreme+
Playability: N/A

This is the coolest card released in Bunt so far this year, and I am completely serious about that. Of course I am biased as a humongous football fan, but it didnt look like I was alone in feeling like this card was insanely awesome. After two really lackluster sig cards in a row, this one is a beast and a half. So much so that it wasnt necessary to limit it to 200 copies. I was offering a 250 sig and a 350 sig plus more and people were declining. IN-SANE.

SR Russell Wilson Base Bowman

Collectability: Extreme
Playability: N/A

Although this isnt as cool as the sig, I am very glad there is a lesser version that people can chase until the draft is over on Saturday night. I went after this card with ferocious intent, and eventually landed it for a king’s ransom. After spending money to open packs and coming up empty, I had to get myself a copy.

SR RA Dickey Signature Series (400)

Collectability: Strong+
Playability:

I am very disappointed with this choice for a sig, especially because they had such a huge opportunity to create someone valuable in Bautista. Even Melky would have been a bit better, but two steroid guys in one year may have been off base. Dickey hasnt exactly been as good as he was in NY, and though he has no other cards, I am left here thinking that the sigs need to err a bit more on the side of Star Power.

SCR Yordano Ventura Mystery Card

Playability:

Anytime there is a rare pitcher available, people are going to go nuts trying to get it. Ventura is flying a bit under the radar enough that some Bunters may undervalue him, but when you review the points on the back of the card, you should be VERY excited if you have this card. He is a strikeout pitcher with huge velocity, and has been pitching extremely well all year long.

Limited David Price Heritage Set Card (509)

Collectabiliy: Strong
Playability:

FINALLY he gets a card. Strike out pitcher that has a lot of potential to score points. He has about 500 copies which is nice, and it gets a lot on the way of building a nice lineup of guys who have no other cards. I think this card will eventually be pretty valuable, even though the set didnt do as well as I thought it would.
