When Topps Series 2 Baseball first hit, we were intrigued by the first ever promotion that crossed between physical and digital. Not only were there code cards that provided access to free coins within the game, but also redemptions for EXTREMELY rare 5x boosts that were /25 and available in Hobby packs.
They were some of the most expensive and rare insert cards in the game:
2015 Topps Series 2 Jon Lester Bunt Redemption Code Card /25
2015 Topps Series 2 Anthony Rizzo Bunt Redemption Code Card /25
2015 Topps Series 2 Yasiel Puig Bunt Redemption Code Card /25
2015 Topps Series 2 Matt Harvey Bunt Redemption Code Card /25
Now that Topps Update Baseball, the third physical set of the year featuring the flagship design, we are getting another batch of redemption cards that will likely be more focused on collectability over gameplay. With the MLB season pretty much over, these cards should be a bit different in their structure. I might also fathom that there is a chance that these could end up as the first scoring cards of 2016 when all is said and done.
The checklist was published on the Topps website earlier today, and it includes a few cards that are repeats from last time, as well as a few new faces that include Kris Bryant.
Here is who they have this time around:
