Huddle Tip of the Day – Your Primer to Getting Started in 2014

The launch of the new Huddle 2014 update is likely a few weeks away, and I cannot be more excited. I think the new Bunt style format plays even better into football than it does into Baseball, and with increased focus on beautiful content, its going to be a banner year.

After going through two 2014 launches with Bunt and Kick (just for kicks! HA!), I have picked up a few things that I wanted to make sure everyone had in their back pocket. Here is my guide for starting off 2014 with Huddle.

Saved Coins

If you are like me, you have been checking in daily now for a few months to stock up on coins. Im at about 75,000, and you can bet I will be itching to spend them immediately upon launch. From the plan we saw with Bunt and Kick, the initial sig and inserts wont be released until a day or so after launch, so its best to have a planned out approach for your coins. The sig packs cost 10k coins in both previous apps, and have 7 cards. Keep that in mind when spending all your saved up loot. Its going to be good to wait, but I am not going to be able to do so, just like all of you.

Spending

My spending plan is as follows. Im going to waste through the 75,000 coins as the app starts off to get some cards to trade for other base that will be needed for scoring. After that, Ill wait for the sig to be released, and spend the gift cards I have saved for this occasions on the itunes store and see if I can get lucky. At the very least, Ill get some extra base cards worth playing during opening weeks.

Trading

EVERYONE is going to want 2014 cards to the point where the fan feed will be OVERRUN with people asking. For the first few weeks, the value of 2013 cards will be next to nothing as people try to stock up to score points in the games that weekend. With the old cards not scoring, no one will likely be looking to take them on in trade for newer cards. Later on in the season, that will change completely, especially as people see how older cards can positively impact collection scores. This is why its going to be important to buy in to the new cards as quickly as possible. If you are planning on only spending a bit of money this year, early on is a great place to do it. You will get MAX value for your cards even if you dont pull inserts. When everyone is a newbie, no one is.

Chases

The kickoff game is going to be crucial, as it is one of the only times this year where everyone is going to be watching. Chase the Seahawks and the Packers to ensure you dont get left behind. Marshawn Lynch and Eddie Lacy are safe bets alongside Aaron Rodgers, but I would NOT waste time picking up Russell Wilson. Some players are built for Huddle, and if last season was any indicator, he wont fit in well with the new scoring system. Think Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and company before chasing him down.

Sigs

If I had to guess, Lynch will be the first sig released. If the previous games are any indicator, he will be a very tough pull, potentially with odds as high as 1:100+ packs with a card count around 250 to 400. That means that if you pull one, HOLD IT. DO NOT TRADE IT. Im serious. At this point in the game, there is nothing that will be as valuable as Lynch, and if you are like me and not a Seahawks fan, there will be another card released this year that will likely be something you are dying to have. The opening sigs are AUTOMATICALLY more valuable than other sigs of their card count because you had to be online during the first week to get one. Lots of people join through the season, and will be aching to take it off your hands. You will thank me, I guarantee it.

Playing

Expect lag during the Kickoff game, as the servers will get their biggest test other than the Super Bowl. Plug in your players EARLY just in case things go haywire like they did during the SB last year. Read over the play rules as soon as they are released, and take note of which players are going to be the most playable in the early weeks. Because only a SELECT few people will have tons of cards from spending like crazy, there will be a lot of opportunity to rank high if you can pay attention to the live games for the first week.

HAVE FUN!

Football is back, baby! Live for this 6 months of the year, and keep up with the game, even if you are just setting and forgetting your lineup once during the year. Huddle is a blast, and I am beyond excited for it to get going!

Bunt Tip of the Day – How Valuable are Black Boosts?

Every so often, Bunt releases a 3x black boost that adds another 100% to the level normally provided by the gold cards. So, if a gold scores at 100 points, the black would score at 150. It seems like not much of a boost to score that extra bit, but for people that play for points, it can be the difference between 1000 points on a card and 1500.

Pitchers

IMG_1863

Currently, 3 starting pitchers have black boosts, and one has fire 4x boost. Currently, these are some of the toughest cards in teh game to trade for, mainly because of who the players are. Kershaw is obviously top of the mountain, and I have gotten offers for mine that include two low numbered sigs, plus a number of lower numbered inserts. Cueto and Kluber are very much on that level, but maybe a step down.

I had both Cueto and Kershaw at one point and I had to give up multiple sigs to get them at the time as well. The pitchers tend to be given to the Black/Diamond VIPs, which means there will be less of them than the 250 usually given out on the hitter side. With new point rules valuing Ks more than ever, these cards have increased in value since their original release. All three are some of the top pitchers in the game in that regard.

Hitters

Capture

Here is the issue. Two of the black boost hitters are out for the rest of the season in Tulowitzki and Goldschmidt, and Wright isnt exactly having a mammoth go at it. Ortiz is the one guy who has been hitting HRs, but its still tough to play a hitter in the game due to risk of missing out on the pitchers also going. Rizzo has also been playing well, but has the tendency to strike out amidst his power hitting.

The cards are still valuable for two reasons. First they increase your collection by a considerable amount with each boost you collect. That alone makes them valuable, as it is almost like HGH for the way your collection is viewed by the rest of the community. Secondly, they are some of the rarest non-weekly inserts in the game, and they are popular players. That also makes them valuable.

Overall, I think these cards are cool, and I like that they are not blown out of proportion. It would be easy to make a black boost every week, but then they wouldnt be special.

Huddle Tip of the Day – Stocking Your Lineup At Release

As I mentioned before, I am a huge football fan who plays a lot of fantasy. After starting slow last year in huddle, I finished strong due to studying up on the potential for each team and who their likely big point scorers are. Those players are the ones you need the 9 sets of, and it will become evident who they are pretty quickly. Here is a primer of those guys who will likely be valuable regardless of point structures.

Its interesting, because last year, WR who were also returned kicks on special teams were some of the most reliable players in the game. With points adjustments likely coming, things might be a bit more balanced, but you never know.

LeSean McCoy

Although I think the Eagles are not going to be as good as they were in 2013, McCoy will be their top guy in points. They lost one of the top receivers in the league, and that only means Shady will catch more passes than ever out of the backfield. With likely points for both catches and yardage in place, he should end up being quite a valuable part of anyone’s team.

Cordarrelle Patterson

I am not making this suggestion only because I am a die hard Vikings fan, but because of how prolific Patterson was as a returner last year. He averaged over 30 yards per return, which netted 1000 point week on top of 1000 point week in Huddle, and now that his coach thinks he is also a huge weapon for their passing and running you can bet he is going to break out this year.

Peyton Manning

Obvious, I know, but still the best. I have a feeling that QBs are going to get more benefit of the point system this year after the WRs were much more playable last year with points for catches and yardage. The potential addition of longer warm up times will lend themselves much more to playing the QB over the WR, which means Manning will likely be the best guy to play.

Aaron Rodgers

When he is healthy, he is as good as anyone in the league. There is a great chance he will end up playing incredibly well early on as defenses try to get their playbooks on the field, and that is why I think he is a tremendous early season pick up. He is surrounded by Jordy Nelson and a healthy Randall Cobb, which will bring the Packers back to the top of the NFL power rankings.

Adrian Peterson

I know this is homer-ish of me to have two Vikings on this list, but there is no denying that Peterson is the best back in the league. He is poised to have another huge season, especially if the QB situation is as bad as it was prior.

Calvin Johnson

NFC North leading the way again, as Megatron should have a huge season in Detroit. Not only does he catch a ton of balls, but he gets the yardage too, which is almost more important than a score in huddle. Obviously, things could change with new scoring rules, but dont sleep on him.

AJ Green

Although I dont have a ton of confidence in Andy Dalton, Green is the freaking man. Yardage, TDs, catches everything play into his hand in scoring big points. I think that in terms of WRs, it all depends on the warm up time, as the longer it takes to get a receiver into the lineup, the less valuable a WR will be.

Jamaal Charles

Injuries are a concern, but a pass catching RB is hard to pass up for a lineup. As I have said a few times, longer warm up times will make RBs and QBs more valuable, which plays right into Charles’ hand. He has potential for TDs on the ground and in the air, which is attractive all around.

Marshawn Lynch

Hard to pass up the cover athlete for 2014, right? He is in the middle of a bid for a bigger contract, which means he should play up to his potential from the start. His goal will be to force Seattle into a bigger deal, and that means his intensity will get him further than before. Considering he was already one of the better backs in the league last year, scary to think what will happen when he is angry.

Huddle Tip of the Day – Predictions for 2014

We are less than 3 weeks away from the start of the NFL season, which means that 2014 Huddle is going to be launched here shortly. I could not be more excited, as Huddle is my main jam when it comes to Topps digital apps. As much as I have become a Bunt fanatic this year, I have always been a HUGE football fan. This is the first real 2014 post for me on the Huddle front, and much more will be coming as soon as we get more into the launch of the new update.

Until then, the question is, what will it be like this year? Here are some of my responses and predictions to some of the overarching questions for the upcoming year.

Will Huddle Mirror 2014 Bunt?

Lets be 100% honest and say that 2014 Bunt is almost completely different than 2013 Bunt. The game structure has changed in that the base cards have multiple levels and boosts are no longer coveted items. Sigs still are the most valuable cards in the game, but inserts come on a daily basis. We have already been given major assurances with the launch of 2014 Kick that its a safe bet to think that 2014 Huddle and 2014 Bunt will be peas in a pod. This includes the play counts and load times, as well as card structures.

Prediction: No doubt about it

Will 2014 Huddle be NFL Licensed?

One of the enormous drawbacks to playing huddle was that no NFL logos could be used due to licensing only with the NFLPA. Bunt feels like more of a complete game because everything can be built around the teams, brands, events, and players and their history rather than just their players. In Huddle, it was almost impossible to drive content the same way because of how much depends on the use of NFL logos. Chris Vaccaro posted a question in a recent article about Marshawn Lynch’s selection as the cover athlete for 2014 Huddle, that made me do a double take. He addressed this head on, but gave no indication as to whether or not its happening. The fact that he addressed it changed my viewpoint from “No way is this happening” to, “Whoa, ok, this MIGHT be happening.”

Prediction: Huddle stays NFLPA licensed with major focus on design content to make the app more visually appealing

What Cards Will Be the Most Valuable for Points?

Last year’s value spectrum for scoring points was all over the place, and you really had to stack your teams with both a ton of Wide Receivers and Running Backs to really be successful. I expect that Running backs will continue to be the best players in the game, but expect QBs and WRs to be getting a nice bump in scoring. I think they learned a lesson in setting up the scoring in Bunt this year, where pitchers became the only playable cards, and I would guess that they wont present any similar situation in Huddle.

Prediction: A balanced approach to scoring

What Cards Will Be the Most Valuable Overall?

This was the case in Huddle last year, but sigs will continue to be the most valuable, if not more so than last year. With a likely increase of insert releases combined with larger attempts to create scarcity among the cards, expect that this will fuel the market for rare sigs and potentially increase the value of 2013 sigs along the way. Also, because I would expect a large migration from Bunt as well, the community already has a big focus on sig value. I would expect Marshawn Lynch to be the first sig of the year, which means Seahawks fans should start saving coins now.

Prediction: Sigs all the way, get on board early

How Much Will Investment Change?

From what I have gathered from vet Bunters, 2014 became a year of more investment in terms of money. To really be competitive in the game, real money needed to be spent, or hours and hours of trading needed to be spent. Both came with a significant cost. Because the amount of base cards quintupled, as did the amount of inserts released, it became a mad dash to get up to speed. I highly expect that Huddle will have a similar situation, to a lesser extent due to less users. If NFL licensing is secured, that could all change. Apps are extremely expensive to produce and maintain, and there is no doubt that more money will be needed to continue supporting the game. That bill is inevitably passed to the users, but with it should come more perks like VIP programs and better content. Its a trade off I dont really mind, but I know that isnt the case all around.

Prediction: More investment will be needed to stay on top

What Will 2014 Huddle’s Biggest Moments Be?

This is where I think things will get fun. As we saw in 2014 Bunt, there is an immediate transfer from real life events to in game releases. Because of this, expect big things in 2014. Peyton Manning will likely break Favre’s TD record, rookies will make debuts, and who knows what else may happen? All these new elements are why I expect Huddle to be incredible this year. Get ready people, its coming soon!

Prediction: Huddle’s Biggest and Best Year Yet

I will be posting lots of gameplay tips, reviews commentary and all sorts of other fun stuff this year, so check back often to read up. If you have any questions – dont hesitate to reach out!

Gameplay Tip of the Day – The VERY Basic Rules of Trading

Its been awhile since I have really covered trading in depth, so I think its time to cover it one more time. Because there are so many new users as of late, I wanted to run down some of the more difficult parts of trading to understand. It is an art, and I want new users to understand that this is just my opinion, and it will likely take a lot of finesse to really get what you want.

Avoiding Terrible Offers

When you are new, its very difficult to trade for the really valuable inserts, and that’s okay. You can still play the game and have fun without a sig or any inserts. The trick is to trade for more cards until eventually you either pull a good card from a pack or you can find someone willing to to overpay for something they need. If you dont have the firepower to make an offer, wait. Making terrible offers will just get you ignored and you will lose the chance at ever trading again with that user. You are going to be at the bottom of the totem pole for a while, but that doesnt mean you should try to jump from the ground floor to the penthouse overnight. BUILD UP.

Card Counts

For lack of a better explanation, card counts drive the game. When the card is flipped over, its the number in parentheses to show how many copies are in circulation. The lower the count, usually the more valuable it is. A “Rare” level card with a low card count can easily trump a “Super Rare” card with a high count. The lower the card count, the more demand there will be, so be careful in offering your cards against low count inserts.

Inserts vs Base

There are two types of cards in the game, and both serve a big purpose. Base cards are the ones with the colored borders, and some can be quite valuable – especially those pitchers that can score hundreds per game. Inserts are the cards that are more for collecting reasons, and dont look anything like the base cards. They can vary from set to set, and some can be some of the most valuable cards in the game. Inserts rarely if ever score more than a white common card, so there is no gameplay reason to collect them if you are only looking to score points. The rarer the insert the more valuable the card, unless they are a sig. In all likelihood there are not many users willing to trade base cards for inserts, but you might get lucky. Do not offer a bunch of commons for a rare insert card, as that is a recipe for disaster.

Collectors vs Gamers

This is where things can get complicated. There are players who are on Bunt solely for the collection element of the game, and only care about having one of as many cards as possible. There is also a contingent of players who only care about scoring points, and need multiple copies of the gold cards to ensure they can be in the top of the rankings. When looking at their sheet, it can be subtle, but dont expect someone to give up a card just because they have more than one copy. Equal value is king.

Starting Pitchers

Thanks to a generally unbalanced scoring system, Starting Pitchers are a point machine in most cases. Cards like Hernandez, Kershaw, Kluber and Wainwright Golds can trade like rare inserts, which makes them impossible to trade for unless you are willing to give up a ton. Card counts may be in the thousands, but when everyone is looking for nine copies, they become exceedingly rare.

Need Does Not Mean Want

Just because someone doesnt have the card doesnt mean they WANT the card. Secondarily, just because they have a card, doesnt mean they wouldnt like another copy. I personally think a lot of good trades are wasted because someone only offers cards the other person doesnt have.

Trading for Sigs

There is one type of insert that rules them all. Sigs are the insert that everyone wants, and I will warn you against offering for them unless you have something of extreme value in your collection. People guard and hoard their sigs like there is a famine coming, and that makes them basically unattainable for newer users. That’s fine, after a long enough time you will save up enough to eventually get one if you are patient. Patience is the key, and without it, you will only ruin your reputation.

Multiple Trade Offers

If you send someone a trade and they decline without a counter, dont offer again. Just dont. It will just get you ignored.

Notes and 1:1 Trading

I always advise against putting notes in your trades. Its only going to annoy the other person. If they decline, so be it, your note wouldnt have changed that. Dont put in notes begging for them to accept, or for them to counter. It will work against you. Leave the trade blank. If they have a card you want and you dont think you have something they will want, send a same card trade with a note instead. Ask them nicely to take a look at your collection and see what you have. They may respond, they may not. Dont worry about it either way.

Countering

On a normal load time, countering can take up to 2-3 minutes depending on your card score. Thats why people dont counter anymore. It literally just takes too long. Make a good offer on the first try and maybe you will get lucky. Walk away if they decline.

Overpaying

If you are making the offer, expect to overpay. Because people with nicer collections are far in the minority these days, they can sit back and wait for the people to come to them. Also, they know because demand is high, that they can wait for a good offer. That means you will likely need to overpay on each offer. Just a heads up.

THE GOLDEN RULE

If you truly want people to accept your trade follow the golden rule of Bunt Trading:

DONT MAKE OFFERS YOU WOULDNT ACCEPT IF YOU WERE ON THE OTHER END.

Pretty simple words to live by.

If you are looking for more advice on trading, send me a message, leave a comment or check the blog archives. I have written extensively on successful trading in Bunt.

New 2015 Topps Design a Sign of Things to Come?

One of the biggest improvements to 2014 Bunt over 2013 was the use of the base design from 2014 Topps Series One as the design for all the cards. Because so many of the bunt players are not card collectors, they may not have known that the game cards mirror the real cards.

Yesterday we got a preview of the 2015 Topps Series One design, which will likely end up playing a large part of next year’s game. I think its worth posting it here on the site for everyone to see as it looks considerably different than this year’s clean bordered design.

We also got to see some of the other inserts, which if trends continue, will also be subject to inclusion in the game as well. With more and more of the real cards infiltrating the checklist with each passing week, its likely that the solicitation of the new product will provide a deeper look into what may be coming to the app.

Personally I am a big fan of the retro style presentation, especially in the fact that the borders arent necessarily clean white. Its going to be interesting how they are transformed to be used for game fucntion, but there shouldnt be much of a problem.

Here is an in depth look at the preview if you want to take a look.

New Bunt Inserts Unwrapped – Golden Ticket Edition

Yesterday was an interesting day in Bunt. Not only did we have a Sig released, but also a chance for something that has never been offered in any of the apps. It created a bit of a mad dash, and I think its worth talking about here.

SR GOLDEN TICKET – 1/1 SIG CREATOR CARD

IMG_2033

Collectability: N/A
Playability: N/A

The one of one drives the card economy in real life, and it should come as no surprise that it would cause a stir when brought to packs in Bunt. There is already an element of 1/1 for the Diamond VIPs who get to create their own card, but this is a bit different putting it in packs. Adding in that you get to build your own signature card and things will get nuts. According to the ToppsBunt Twitter page it was pulled around 1am last night, and I can only imagine the situation for the person that pulled it. You know every user in Bunt will want that card, and to be the person who gets to build it is beyond awesome.

You know it would be controversial because everyone feels as though it creates an unattainable element to the game. With that unattainable element comes the claims of pandering for coin purchases, but that’s the way these things work in real life. Creating the chase is what gets people going, and this is the first of many I would guess.

More user created/inspired content is really the one element of the game that I think Bunt needs to improve upon, and this was a big leap in that direction. At some point, it would be really cool to have the fans of the team vote for the sig each week, which will give more ownership and pride for the eventual card results.

SR Daniel Murphy Signature Series

IMG_2034

Collectability: Extreme
Playability: Capture

The Mets havent exactly been a stable of superstars lately, even David Wright has really fallen off the face of the earth as one of the top faces of baseball. To see Murphy get the sig for the mets was interesting, as I am sure there are a lot of happy Met fans that the young all star was the subject. Murphy is slotted at a 650 level, which is just above where I would have put him (I think he deserves to be on the same level as Sonny Gray), thus making him more available. The best part was that they seem to have gone back to the 1:85 odds, instead of the 1:200 odds for Hamels at 750 level.

SR Jackie Robinson Anniversary Card

IMG_2035

Collectability: Extreme
Playability: N/A

I really like this Jackie Robinson card, but I think its worth noting it is likely not meant to be a sig. This card was originally printed with a facsimile autograph on it, but the Bunt community is probably not aware of that situation. Either way, this is Robinson’s first bunt card, and I am glad they chose this one. This design is one of the most iconic Topps historical cards, and I think its a perfect way to bring Jackie to Bunt.

Gameplay Tip of the Day – Breaking Down the New Base Cards

Its that time again! New base cards were released yesterday in what may be the last installment of new players for a long time. There is still no word as to whether or not the release of Topps Update will trigger new cards, but the season may be closer to over at that point. Here are my highlights from this group.

Jake Arrieta

With a sub 3 ERA and over 100 strikeouts so far, I really like Arrieta’s prospects to be a part of your lineup instead of other pitchers that might be available. He doesnt necessarily play for the best team, but luckily, wins and losses dont matter in Bunt. His WHIP isnt high enough to scare people, so definitely start the elite guys over him any day of the week.

Doug Fister

Another top quality pitcher with a 2.34 ERA. The issue is that Fister doesnt strike anyone out, but he also doesnt walk many hitters. His WHIP is slightly higher than Arrieta at 1.06, so that isnt terrible. He is a good guy to pick up in case your K pitchers arent playing.

Jacob deGrom

In his rookie year, I dont think anyone expected DeGrom to really be as good as he has been. 2.87 ERA, 94 Ks and 1.22 WHIP over 16 starts. Not bad. He isnt on the elite level yet, but he does have a lot going for him. I dont think he cracks my top 20, but he is a nice handcuff if you need someone to play in a pinch.

Aaron Harang

Last on my list for this release is Harang, who has put up some reasonable success this year with the Braves after a 12 year journeyman career. He has over 110 strikeouts and a 3.31 ERA, but also has 56 Walks in 149 innings. His WHIP is creeping up at 1.39, so its definitely possible his point totals can dip when he gives up hits and BBs.

Bartolo Colon

I literally have no idea how Colon is still pitching, let alone pitching well. He just won his 200th game, so its crazy to believe he might end up being considered among the better pitchers to ever play. This year has been up and down for him, but he has over 100 Ks and a sub 4 ERA. Surprising to say the least.

Gameplay Tip of the Day – Protecting Yourself From Scams

51070-scam-alert1

I have said it once and Ill say it again. If something has value, there will be people who find ways to take advantage of that situation. Because there are so many uninformed users on Bunt, there is a major push by scammers to take advantage of that ignorance as of late. Unless you take the steps to educate yourself, it can be that easy to fall prey to their influence.

The scary thing is, most of the users who scam are functioning on a copycat type of operation. Either they get scammed, and then try to pull it over on another unsuspecting person, or they get told by their friends. Because so many younger users have started to sign on, its easy to see how they might see its okay if a bunch of people are trying to get ahead illegally.

New scams have been found over the last few months, whether its adding a black boost to a bunch of commons and hoping people wont notice before they accept, or even asking to borrow cards and then never returning them. You would think people would be more skeptical of these situations, but they arent. They expect the best from people, when in reality, that is only going to get you hurt at some point in the future. Its a very cynical way of looking at things, but online, where no one has a face or an identity, its the truth.

Capture

Topps has done their part in banning discovered scammers as quickly as they are reported, but I think there is something to be said for them officially educating the public on what is going on. I would like to see them show the underbelly with a very strict zero tolerance policy. Yes, it will show people how to scam, but education is the most powerful weapon against it. It will also let people know that there is a way to report this awful behavior that demeans the wonderful community. At the very least, create a survey to report these individuals for investigation. Make it public that there is a defense.

Another scary element is that even if someone does get scammed, its likely the cards will not be returned, as we have seen. The offender is banned, but they are usually not able to return the card(s) that were taken. This is why it is so important for us to be that much more careful in the way that we operate.

How to protect yourself:

  • Use the lock system – lock the cards you absolutely dont want to trade. Take offers through 1:1 messages if absolutely necessary.
  • Lock black boosts – unless you are going to be trading them that minute, lock them up. They have been a huge target as of late.
  • Review EVERY trade thoroughly – at the very least, make sure you take a quick glance before any offer is accepted. It may take some extra seconds, but you will be happy when you avoid a scam as a result.
  • Avoid “card to be named later” deals – unless you are getting the card in hand when giving up your side, stay away. Scams feed off “ill send you this card in another trade” scenarios, which give the person a chance to walk away without fulfilling their end of the deal. Card in hand 100% of the time or no trade for me.
  • Trust no one – Sad that it has to be this way, but it is. Trust is something I give to very select groups of individuals, people that I have vetted. The same thing goes for their trust of me. Outside of those people, I dont trust a single person.
  • Seek out the stories – Dont sit and wait for the scams to come to you. Read the posts on facebook and twitter, and familiarize yourself with the way things happen. I have posted a few times on common scams, search “Scam Alert” in the box above.

Again, the only person who can protect you is you. Not the Bunt staff, not Twitter, just you. Be vocal, use your voice, and dont fall for anything you cannot tangibly see the result. If everyone always played nice, these types of posts wouldnt be necessary.

Huddle Update: 2013 Cards and Scoring

On their Twitter account, the huddle team announced that 2013 cards will not score points in 2014. This should not come as a surprise following the announcement in the beginning of the year for Bunt. To be honest, the game is likely going to change so much that it wouldnt make sense for base cards to score. This isnt a bad thing, but it is going to change the economy when the 2014 update hits. Here is my experience from what happened in Bunt.

Are 2013 Base Cards Still Valuable?

IMG_2028

Here is the thing. As with any card, it always depends on the person you are trading with. In Bunt, there is still a market for the 2013 base, but it is definitely smaller with a huge contingent of new users signing on with the new year.

Because the huddle crowd is smaller as of now, the base cards will likely retain some value, but will be drastically reduced when the new cards are released.

Are 2013 Inserts Still Valuable?

IMG_2027

To echo the explanation above, it all depends on the person you are trading with. The difference is that because inserts are rarer cards, they still have considerably more value than the 2013 base cards. They wont be close to as valuable as they once were, but there will be a reason to keep your inserts. I have seen people trade rarer 2014 cards in bunt for rare 2013 cards, but its clear that the market will drop.

Are 2013 Sigs Still Valuable?

IMG_2026

Here is where things get muddy. Certain cards from 2013 Bunt have a ton of continued value. The lower card count signature series cards are some of that group. If you have the crazy rare huddle sigs like Adrian Peterson and the like, it will definitely still hold considerable value, but it will not be one of the most valuable cards in the game as rarer 2014 sigs are released.

Dont get me wrong, I know how much people spent to obtain these cards, but it should have been clear that things were going to change almost 100% once the Bunt update came through. We are still 3 weeks from any concrete gameplay for the huddle app, and I cannot wait to see what they have in store.

More to come on this site regarding the main changes to Huddle as they are announced. Stay tuned!
