SWCT MIA: Five Underrepresented Characters in the App

Overall, the Star Wars team has done a great job creating some really amazing looking cards for the app. Although constraints exist in many different areas, the designs and content has been well above standards. That being said, a few characters get the short end of the stick when building out new sets, and here are my top five. Many of these characters do have some cards, but when you consider the roles they play in the movies, they deserve more than they get.

Princess Leia

1

Actually, this could be said a lot for the women of the movies, but Leia gets very little love in the insert sets. Considering she is a humongous part of the story, you would expect her to have more of a footprint in the game. The issue might stem from the fact that she doesnt have much action through the films, but Im not sure that matters. ROTJ had some great scenes.

The Emperor

2

Im not talking about pre-Mace Windu Palpatine stuff, im talking full on force lightning Emperor bad-assery. He is central to the story line of all six movies, but I think he should have a lot more cards that feature him in his final form.

Yoda

3

When it comes to the movies, everything is very much a mirror when you think about it. Yoda is a mirror of the Emperor, representing everything the Emperor is not. He is one of the most iconic characters of the series, and when you think about it, probably deserves more love than he gets.

Storm Troopers

Capture

We have gotten BOMBARDED with Clone Troopers. They are everywhere in the app, despite being a group that is largely not as popular as their eventual transition into the Storm Troopers. We have had so few cards released that feature good old fashioned versions of everyone’s favorite grunts, and that is depressing. It can be difficult to represent a group, but we need to find a way. Now, the argument can be made that the enormous TK set represents the Storm Trooper in a huge way, but im not sure I buy that. Its the helmet sure, but more of a representation of art than the spirit of the group themselves.

Ewoks

4

This is going to be unpopular. Ewoks are polarizing, and might have been the original trilogy’s Jar Jar Binks in a lot of ways. The reason I am putting them on this list is because Jar Jar has had his days as of late. There is no way that he is cooler than the Ewoks. NO WAY. That needs to be fixed.

Honorable Mention: Mace Windu

5

He might have been the one guy that is not only underrepresented in the app, but also underrepresented in the Movies. He is a conflicted Jedi character that has a crazy interesting backstory. Plus, he is Sam effing Jackson. You dont mess with Samuel L. Jackson.

Topps Bunt MIA: Five Players That Need More Attention in the App

The season is starting to wind down and pennant races are starting to pick up. This is the time of year where things get really interesting. With persistent scoring issues that are plaguing the app, the game’s stories really need to played out in the inserts and cards released during this timeframe. Here are some of the guys who have made waves this year without much representation.

Johnny Cueto

Capture

Although he did have base cards released in Series 2, they were quickly sold out due to the trade with the Royals. Even prior to that Cueto didnt have much going on, and needed to be featured much more often. He has had a few cards as of late (including a VIP sig), but for a guy playing as well as he is, he is vastly underrepresented. Similarly, with scoring eventually going to be fixed, we need some cards when the Royals hit the playoffs.

Alex Rodriguez

Capture

I get it, he is a pariah, and deservedly so, but he does deserve some attention other than a headlines here and there. His production has increased significantly over the last few months, and his power numbers make him worth considering for your lineup. Similarly, even as a media pariah, he is still popular with Bunters, as he plays for a top team and has been doing well.

Kyle Schwarber

Capture

In 35 games, he has put up 30 RBI and and 9 HR. That is just insanity when you think about how much production that is for a rookie. He has a few cards in the game, but nothing of substance. I would love to see what Bunt could do with some cool inserts and higher scoring cards for him.

Miguel Sano

Capture

In 39 games, like Schwarber, Sano has put up VERY impressive numbers with 29 RBI and 9 HR. Although the Twins have fallen off a cliff lately, Sano has emerged as a beastly addition to their lineup. Too bad their pitching cant take the onslaught, as his production would look much better on a playoff bound team.

Manny Machado

Capture

As someone who has been a top prospect for many years, its great to see Machado turn it on this year. He has has some spectacular games, and is playing in a division that gets a lot of attention. As a whole the Orioles dont get much attention in the game, and its a shame that Machado only has a few inserts. He does have base cards and some inserts, but his dynamic play deserves to be featured more prominently.

Overall, I feel like there are teams that deserve more attention as a whole, but these guys are some of the better players that really havent gotten much attention. I would hope that we can expand out past the Blue Jays, Astros or the Giants, even though those teams are playing very well.

Force Friday – Episode VII Merchandising Day and Potential SWCT Impact

If you read StarWars.com regularly – and I hope you do, you probably saw this article already. It basically explains that for all licensed retailers of Star Wars gear, September 4th is the day where new toys and other goods will be released. It is basically a signal for every toy collector out there to get ready to rumble, but it might have some impact on SWCT as well. I believe that Episode VII will be SWCT’s Super Bowl, and 9/4 could be the kickoff.

The movie will be prominently featured, as we already saw that Force Awakens even has its own slot on the card sheet for the preview that launched with the game. I would guess there will be many friends that will join those cards at the top of your sheet, and I would venture to guess that it will be amazing.

CC305017L3-1536x864-641515734419

If I were running the app, I would use 9/4 as a date to start running and try to get off to a good pace right from the get go. With Star Wars marketing launching this early, there will have to be a lot of content that is delivered for the movie. Considering that production stills and publicity photos/concept art is likely the only available source material, the art team will have to go into overdrive in making the cards. They will need to work some magic in what might only be a few available pieces of usable images. Knowing Lucasfilms, however, they could have more available pictures than ever before, thus giving us even more of an opportunity to get awesome content.

I would also assume that over the course of September through release, Marathon cards could take on some of these images. They might not want to blow their cache on a bunch of sets (as much as I want them to), but they could definitely use FA subjects for Connections, GM, Bounty and Topps Choice. Im all for this, especially when so much of those sets have migrated to cartoon subjects in recent weeks.

Additionally, more base cards could be on the way, although that might not be until closer to the release. It would be amazing to see all the FA cards packaged together in one big monster pack, but that isnt the way things work.

When all is said and done and the middle of December rolls around, we might all be sick of FA in SWCT. For right now, though, I am beyond excited.

Five Underrated SWCT Insert Sets You Should Check Out

Topps has done some really cool sets over the first 20+ weeks of the app, and many of the undeniably amazing and low count sets are valuable universally. Others are more below the surface, and are quite underrated in the way people look at them. For whatever reason, some of these sets just never caught on, but I still appreciate the way they look. Here are a few of my favorites.

Shred

1

When this set came out, the weekly insert sets were still vastly in the shadow of Marathon cards. As a result, very few people bought the packs and collected the cards with the same fervor. Its too bad, because the look and content of Shred was awesome. I love the torn look and the subject list was really well planned out. All of which was overshadowed by the award card, which was the first time the Millenium Falcon was featured on its own card.

Firebrand

Capture

Although the Rust parallels are very valuable due to rarity, this set was amazing. Like Shred, it was relegated to second class status because of the Marathon cards, even though they are some of my favorite looking in the app. That Maul is just menacing. I love it. You can probably pick up the silvers relatively cheap, especially some of the lesser subjects. Some of the main guys are still somewhat valuable.

Icons

Capture

The great part about Icons is that it is still in packs! I think Icons suffers a bit because the colors on the parallels dont form a consistent approach – something that has been a huge problem with the last few sets. Either way the individual cards of the set look really cool – almost like posters in their own right. People have kind of avoided this set, which is a shame.

Intergalactic

Capture

The wireframe look of these cards reminds me of old video games, and the way the subject matter is displayed in such a dynamic fashion is really cool. For a while, Intergalactic was victim of a time where there were like 5 sets on the market, and all of them were getting negative publicity in the feed. This was definitely one of the cooler sets that didnt deserve the treatment it got.

Luminaries

Capture

Im not sure if you can really call this undervalued, because some of the cards are really hard to come by. Lots of people collected it, but the ransom note graffiti approach is really a pretty unique take, and looks like a concert poster from the late 70s punk shows. I dont see many trades come across with the set, and Im curious if it does have the value it should.

Im sure there are other sets out there that you guys love too, these are just the ones I would think should get a bit more of the accolades we see for other sets.

2016 Topps Bunt: Is This The First Preview of the New Year?

For those of you who collect physical cards, the reveal of the main flagship design is always a big deal for everyone. It has an impact on close to 6 sets, and as we all know, it is also the way cards could look for 2016 Bunt.

CMI7Eb0UMAEDSNJ

Each year since 2013, the base design for Topps has been used as the design for Bunt’s main base cards, and I have no reason to believe it will be any different for 2016. The most interesting part of all of this is that the base design is borderless this year, meaning that Bunt will have to employ new tactics if the app’s base structure is going to remain in tact. There are elements on the card that can change to reflect different parallels, but it will definitely be different than anything we have seen before.

Personally, I love the simple look with full bleed photos. The nameplate of the card is really classy and sleek, and presents a polished look for the overall presentation. This set is going to be 100% dependent on choosing awesome photos, because they are the star of the show in a look like this. The Topps editors definitely have their work cut out for them.

As for Bunt, I can see the frosted elements of the card being used to change colors, or like we saw in the 2014 playoffs, the name plates could be the place where parallels are determined. They may also build a border specifically for the game, with the purpose of adding the parallel dots to show boost level. Either way will work, and I am excited to see how it turns out.

Here is a playoffs card from last year. The silver part of the card changed to other colors for different parallels and it worked well:

Capture

To think that as of today we will be 2/3rds of the way through the 2015 campaign, is shocking to me. Now that the 2016 design is here, its only a matter of time before the playoffs start and I start getting sad about Baseball ending. At least this presents something to look forward to!

SWCT Force Tip of the Day – Valuing Expired Sets

If you havent been around Card Trader lately, you have missed the barrage of sets that have been released over the last few weeks. Great part about the sets is that they look really cool, but it also poses a unique question in value. What is going to happen to all these sets when they expire and the award is given out?

Background

I have done a few posts before on the way insert values change over the course of the release schedule, and that still holds true. The insert’s value is highest at release, decreases as more time passes, and then increases as the reward comes due. After that reward, its dicey, because some of the sets can remain valuable (Nightbrothers is a great example), but others will completely tank.

Predicting this dropoff is more of a guess than it has been in weeks past.  There are a few reliable factors that can help to make your guess into more of estimation, but those even get cloudy with more sets on the market. More than ever, its about collecting what you like, rather than just collecting what you think will be valuable. At some point those will intersect.

Card Count

Low count inserts will almost always have more value than cards with higher counts. Its common sense – although not always the only contributing factor. Cards like Reflections have a relatively higher count, but because of lack of parallels, they retain value post award better than any other insert of comparable count.

Cool Factor

Here is where things get a bit subjective. Cool factor is not absolute, but if the app “believes” the card to be cool, it will maintain value better than a card that the app doesnt like. This is groupthink at its finest, especially with sets that people feel are done in a way that doesnt make sense. Look at Manga for example. It had some REALLY cool cards in it. The evil Vader cards are just menacing, and those still have value to this day. People think evil Vader is cool, so they want the card. Now that the award has expired, other cards in the set can be had for yellows and golds. Pretty crazy, as some of them are pretty low count.

Universe

If the card’s subject has to do with the original trilogy, or even the prequel trilogy, its likely to have more value than any card related to the cartoons. The cartoons have fans that will pay for low count inserts, but as a whole, cartoon cards usually have less value than movie cards.

Subject

Like with any character/item based insert set, the subject of the card could influence the staying power of the card. If you have an obscure character on the card, the chances that the card will continue to have value is much smaller than if Darth Maul is the character on the front.

Parallels

If a set has a ton of Parallels, like we saw with Shadowbox, there is going to be more availability for people who want them. More parallels dilute the value of the overall set, as its not just the amount listed on the back. Its the amount listed on the back of every single card.

Collection Difficulty

Overall, the more sets that are available at any given time, the fewer people that will be interested in collecting any given set. Right now, there are a load of sets out. Street Art, Icons, Posters of the Rebellion, 1977 Remasters, and Classic Art just to name a few. There just isnt enough coinage floating around to collect all the cards, so they lose value when the individual cards sit in packs.

As mentioned above, its hard to say that its in anyone’s best interest to try to collect every set. Try to find what you like and worry about the value later. Pick your targets, and use your own judgment to decide how you want to proceed with a set collection.

Digital Card Download: My Favorite Type of Digital Cards

If you are looking for the original guidelines and submission instructions for the Digital Card Download, they can be found here. This will serve as my submission, and I encourage you all to find a way for a submission of your own.

==================

I have been a user of the Topps apps for a long time now. I even have a few 2012 Huddle cards on my account to prove it. I have always loved the way digital cards have allowed me to engage with collecting at any time during the day, including at 3am while feeding my baby son, who decided sleeping through the night was outside of his capabilities.

One type of card has always been my favorite, and its not even a competition. Yes, everyone, I am a sig chaser. If a card has a signature attached to it, I have likely cracked a number of packs trying to get it.

I think the reason I have such an affinity for signature cards has to do with my focus in collecting physical cards, as autographed memorabilia has always been something I love. It started back when I was a kid, as my dad introduced me to how much fun it was to write celebrities and athletes through the mail to obtain autographs. He had an IMPRESSIVE collection, including autographs from many presidents, actors, and of course, athletes.

When I first joined up with Topps Bunt at the beginning of the app, I didnt really get the appeal until the sig cards were first introduced in 2013. In fact, one of my first insert cards I ever pulled was the Adrian Peterson sig on 2013 Huddle, which got me going full time on both apps. Football is my main sport, and pulling that card was by far one of the coolest things that has happened to me, even to this day.

Capture

Back then, you only got 1k per day in each of the apps, and Huddle packs cost 5k per pack. I had just joined Huddle a few days prior, and had saved up enough for one pack. I was really just trying to get some extra cards to play with the following sunday, but came across an odd one in the middle of the pack. I was super happy to see it was Adrian Peterson – a player I had yet to acquire. The signature was cool, but I wasnt quite understanding of the value. It turned out to be one of the best cards of the game in 2013, and remains one of my favorite cards in my now massive collection.

Since then, I have collected one copy of just about every sig released in Huddle, give or take some of the rare variants, and I am about 19/20ths of the way to a completed second marathon leg in 2015 Bunt. Even though the card isnt a tangible autograph, and the player hasnt touched it, it is still awesome to pull and collect the cards. There is a reason why the cards are the Mercedes of insert cards, and I love seeing what the team comes up with each week. We have seen dual, triple and even sextuple sigs.

For me it represents the chase, a card that everyone wants and only few can get. Although it takes luck to pull them, it can require a ton of effort to trade for them. No one will give them up easily, and that makes for even more of a struggle to build your collection. Its that tension that makes it so satisfying when you get a new one for your collection.

My favorite sigs are all Minnesota based (my hometown) – the Mauer Bunt sig from 2014, the Peterson sig mentioned above, and the Teddy Bridgewater sigs in Huddle. You literally couldnt pry them from me.

Capture

I know there are quite a few other people who feel the same way I do, and I hope they write a post similar to mine explaining their love for all things digital signature. Because for the people who collect sigs, there will never be anything better.

2015 Topps Huddle Preview: Breaking Down The Biggest Moment of the Offseason!

When I saw the feed update pop up, I freaked out a little bit. Over the last few launches, there had never been a preview where we could pull the actual base cards ahead of time, and to see this be an option for Huddle was great to see.

Capture

For those of you who arent Huddle indoctrinated, all 32 teams received a 2015 base card that is available in the preview packs. If you can collect one of the cards, you will receive a special pack containing a random parallel of that card when the new build launches in a few weeks. Pretty cool.

Design

Topps released the 2015 Football Design a few months back, and upon seeing it for the first time, all I could think was that it was perfect for Digital. Its very futuristic and has a lot of cool elements to it that fit very well with Huddle.

Capture1

Head Shots – We get it, this isnt what we were hoping to see. That being said, we are still in the beginning stages of 2015’s roll out, and we have NO idea what could eventually happen. At this point we should prep for head shots, but if the end of the season and the offseason is any indication, hopefully it wont be 100%. The Huddle design team, in my opinion, is the best of the four art teams, as they do so much with so little. It is impressive beyond belief. They will make it work some how some way – even if 2015 turns out a lot like 2014.

Logo – What a great looking change to the Huddle logo. Its very Madden-ish, and that triggers a lot of great nostalgic feelings for many users. I dont think its a coincidence, and the game will look better because of it. My only plea is to make this logo the splash screen and leave the cards for the game. My nitpicky claim is to change 2016 to 2015 or at the most – ’15-’16. Im not sure if the Topps Huddle team knows that football cards are categorized by the year the draft takes place, not the year that the Super Bowl happens. Eh, little things.

Background – I love that they brought back the stadium background. If we are going to be head shot central again, the stadium background at least makes them stand out a bit more. Last year’s cards were done post haste, so all had a stock gray sheet behind the player. This is different, and it does make a lot of difference.

Borders – Like we saw with Bunt and SWCT, there are going to be different parallels of each card, much like 2014, with each parallel having a different boost level. The preview cards are showing the base design, but its likely the colors will change around the outside. I cant wait to see the other cards, because the Gold is going to look awesome.

Preview Format

I absolutely love the format of the preview cards here. The pull rate is tough enough that not everyone will be able to get a ton of the cards. If the odds and paywall are in tact for 2015 Huddle as they were for 2015 Bunt and SWCT – Gold cards are going to be in SHORT supply. This means that a free shot at a nice Parallel for the top player on 32 teams is a really good thing. Its worth going nuts over, despite what non-believers may want you to think.

At the very least, I hope these cards are transferred over to a new 2015 filter on the sheet, so they stay visible for the year. Give the people who stuck around for the offseason a badge of honor to show their support. Hopefully the team does not doom these cards to 2014 oblivion.

Players

The checklist of the cards is VERY interesting. You would expect that the teams face would get the top treament, but it looks like they might have been chosen with a different direction in mind. Players like JJ Watt, Odell Beckham, Rob Gronkowski, LeSean McCoy, Andrew Luck, AJ Green and company are the clear cut right choice for their teams.

Others like Kam Chancellor, Jason Witten, Mike Wallace, Joe Haden, Torrey Smith and company are guys I would have rather seen come later. Hopefully this isnt the only batch and guys like Dez Bryant and Marshawn Lynch get the royal treatment.

The fact that Lynch wasnt chosen for the Seahawks is interesting, considering he is the spokesperson for the game. Does that mean a change is in order? Its funny the theories that pop into my mind from the littlest things.

We also get our first taste of the rookies OFFICIALLY with their new teams. We got a lot of content for the Rookie Premiere, but this is different. Mariota, Winston, Parker and Cooper were all chosen, which was cool to see.

Regardless of who eventually ended up on the card, I am SO happy that each team got a card. This is a greatly favorable approach, and gives every team collector a way to get something for checking in early. Based on the way things were going on the fan feed, it turned out to be quite the chase for a lot of people.

Countdown to 2015

With this release, the train is a rollin’ towards kickoff! The season officially starts September 10th, and if I had to bank on things, the game will be live a day or two before. Its clear they have already started putting work into things, and I hope that some of the things learned from 2015 Bunt will carry over.

I am so excited I cant even put it into words. FOOTBALL IS BACK.

SWCT Force Tip of the Day: How Has Week 21 Played Out?

Everyone expected a firestorm of people looking to cash in on Week 21 cards, especially Vintage and Widevision. The question that everyone was curious to find out focused on how much value that firestorm was going to create. I think things finished up in a very interesting fashion, and I think there are lessons to be learned.

Vintage – Lando in Disguise

Capture

Card Count: 2250
Odds: 1 in 80
Value: High

This is where we really expected things to blow up. With Boba Fett Attacks Vintage climbing higher with each passing week, people really thought that week 21 was going to be a very similar situation. As explained in a previous article, Boba was a perfect storm that likely wouldnt happen again. Although Lando really hasnt reached week 11 levels yet, he is elevated over many of the other Vintage, at almost double the value. For reference Boba is about 3-4x.

I think that Lando’s value will climb over time, but the fact he isnt a top Character like Han (week 1) or Boba (week 11), its going to be hard to reach that elite status. I think its a really cool card, dont get me wrong, but his appearance in another Wave 2 vintage diluted people’s reaction to what they were getting. Eventually this will end up being the top value card in the set, but I find it hard to believe that it will be a runaway value kind like we saw with week 11.

Widevision – Tragedy of Darth Plagueis

2

Card Count: 3000
Odds: 1:50
Value: Strong

For a while, it looked like more and more people were jumping on board with Widevision’s marathon because the set was easier to collect. From what it looks like, that transition looks a bit stale at this point. All things considered, I thought this was a really interesting choice for week 21, especially after the controversy with the award card for Wave 2.

Darth Plagueis is not a character that is featured in any of the six movies, he only exists in reference, when Anakin is being tempted by the Dark Side to save Padme from her foretold death. As Palpatine’s mentor, he plays a big part in the history of how the new trilogy came to be, which is why I find the card interesting. Plagueis’ story does have a big impact.

The value of the card is higher than a normal Widevision, but the user reaction to the award card really tarnished the fanfare around the new wave’s release. People were so upset, the card really took a back seat. It will get more attention as the wave plays out, but right now its still kind of a regular card.

Also worth mentioning that the trade economy on Funeral Pyre (week 11) softened TREMENDOUSLY as the wave closed out. Everyone was offering the card, and there were very few people that wanted one. I would guess this also had contributing circumstance to the new wave’s leadoff. Doesnt hurt that Funeral pyre is one of the coolest in the entire series.

Connections, Bounty, Galactic Moments

Bounty and Galactic Moments both had their week 11 cards released, but I think there are a lot of reasons why those sets are not as in demand as the two covered above. The Wave 3 connections lead off will hit today, and its going to be intriguing to see if they can find a combination as popular as Han and Leia were for week 11. I have gathered that the community would like all week 1 wave cards to be original trilogy, or at the very least NOT from the cartoons, but we will see how it plays out. Connections is really coming back around as a set worth chasing, and with a disappointing reward for wave 1 in the rear view mirror, a nice award for wave 2 could jump start things.

Bottom line, we knew it would be different for wave 3, with both Android and iOS firmly established as part of the community. Everyone knows what they are looking to accomplish by this point in the game, and that will change the way we look at value.

Five Cool Things I Want to See More in Bunt and Star Wars

Right now, Topps Digital is riding high in many different ways. The apps are bustling ahead, and growing steadily, and the cards themselves have never looked better. Although technical issues prevent many users from truly experiencing a great existence in the app, things are going well as a whole. That being said, there is no doubt that some things that I feel we need more of, and I am curious if they could take things to the next level. Really make a splash. I want to discuss a few.

Parallax Cards – Star Wars, Bunt

When you look at an app like Star Wars, the parallax effect is something that could REALLY have a hugely awesome impact on the way a chase card looks. Being that many of the cards already looked like they have a layered approach, a parallax look could really make things pop.

1

Granted,  Parallax takes a ton of time, and its likely that SW’s content process may not support the length it would take to make the card work within the confines of the release schedule. Bunt,  on the other hand, should be using this effect more, and its disconcerting that they have moved away from it. Its possible that they felt the investment of resources wasnt worth the return, but those Parallax sigs are just amazing. I have to believe that there are a lot of potential uses for the effect, and I hope it comes back.

Sketch Cards – Star Wars

If you havent seen some of the art that is available in Topps physical products, mainly in the sketch cards, I think you are missing out. For reference, I am NOT referring to sketchbook type things, like we saw with the recent set. I am talking about comic artists using a standard card sized canvas to create Star Wars art.

3 2

I remember seeing that for one of the Star Wars Masterworks products – which are awesome by the way – someone even took old Topps baseball designs and made them into Star Wars character cards. I want more stuff like that.

Exclusive Content – Bunt

Before you read this paragraph, go check out the most recent set in Bunt. Its called Stubs, and features specially “die cut” cards made to look like Tickets to a game. It is one of my favorite insert sets of the year, and its only available in Bunt.

4

Other cards have fit this mold too, as I feel that TOPPSDAN has some strong design game when it comes to this type of stuff. Too often I feel that Bunt relies on physical card sets to fund the content in the game, and that is too bad. I say its too bad, not because the digitized physical sets are bad – only because it is another opportunity that Dan did not get a chance to work his magic. When you see the Legend sigs, Flamethrowers, and other Bunt exclusive sets, its hard to thing anything other than Dan, Neil and the team knocked it out of the park.

I realize original content takes time. I also realize the league probably has to look at the concept and make sure it fits their brand. This is standard. I am pleading to use as much of Bunt’s resources for more time spent, even if it means fewer releases each week.

One Card Chase Releases – Star Wars, Bunt

I remember back last year, there were a few times where Huddle and Bunt released a card that stood alone as a chase. It wasnt part of a set, it was just the card by itself. It was desirable in that it usually was cool enough to be an event within the game, and I hope that we can get something like that again this year some how in both apps.

A one card chase says something about what the app team feels about the strength of the cool factor. It says, we think this this is so freaking cool, that it doesnt need anything else to stand by it. There doesnt have to be a reward, as owning the card is the reward.

Im also not advocating for more 1/1 content, instead the opposite. Make it cool enough that it doesnt have to be low count to be valuable. Hard to accomplish in some cases, but there are ways to make it work.

Unique Pack Formats – Bunt

Star Wars and Huddle have been at the front of the line for really interesting pack strategies, leveraging less straight ripping and more strategy into the way packs are opened. Its hard to find consistent joy in sitting down to open the same packs day after day. Eventually the base cards become unimportant, and you dont even sort through the pack when you open it. Just swipe up and move on.

I would like to see Bunt take some risks. Because of some of the issues at play with Contests, its almost like they have forgotten to liven it up a bit in the way cards are released. Fans will complain regardless of the utopia that is eventually achieved, so it doesnt serve anyone to sit back and not take a few leaps of faith.

Bunt has one thing that has improved steadily over the last year, and that’s the collector part of the game. Its time to use some fun packs to really get that sector of the game energized while things get sorted out with points.

=================

Again, I realize there are a lot of issues in the game that some users experience on a daily basis. Android users especially. I dont want to discount many of those challenges felt by the user base.
