Huddle Tip of the Day – Diving Deeper Into the Pack Store

Yesterday was quite the day on Huddle, as they have aimed to release not only the first of the VIP awards and award coins, but also a number of new cards that are treasure troves of points for the gamers out there. I want to take some time to break down the packs and how each person should be approaching them.

Points Players

Best Packs: Boost Pack
Cost: 5000 coins
Cards: 3
Odds: 40% SR 60% SCR
Best cards to chase: Over 2x Boost Cards (Black and above)

If you are a free to play fan, and you only spend your 13000 coins per week, plus what you earn from the weekly helmets, you should not buy any pack other than the Boost pack that is usually released on Monday or Tuesday. Its not because this pack has the black boosts (which ARE nice, dont get me wrong), but because of the odds that are attached to this pack. At 40% SR and 60% boost, you might as well not buy anything else. Even though you can get 5 cards for 4k coins in the other packs, the SR and SCR odds are so far below what they are for the boost packs, that its not even a contest.

Yesterday was the biggest gamer day I have ever seen on Bunt or Huddle. It was like a celebration of Points, as 5 (yes you heard that right), new Black Boosts were released. I will be doing a breakdown later on of which ones are the best, but it should be pretty clear that Murray and Manning are well worth the price of admission. I dropped some serious coin on these packs yesterday and it paid off in spades. Not only did I walk away with 12 black boosts, but more golds and silvers than I could count.

This pack is the best, and if you are looking for an excuse to spend some real money, dont think twice before spending all of it on the Boost packs. There may not be any weekly inserts in them, but if you are a true gamer, that really doesnt mean much.

Collectors

Best packs: Black Pack
Cost: Varies
Cards: 1
Odds: N/A – 1 insert per pack
Best cards to chase: Signature series / Editor’s Choice

If you are a collector, the Huddle Black Pack is your jam. I was never a fan of it in Bunt because it led so many people to blow up opening that all inserts inside became worthless. In Huddle, the user base of pay to play fans is about 33% of what it is in Bunt, so not as many people will be going nuts and dropping hundreds of thousands of coins on this pack. That means you can pull some nice stuff that will remain valuable.

So far, the top two inserts for collectors to chase are the Sigs, which are obvious, and the Editor’s choice, which are not as obvious. As we have seen, these Editor’s choice cards are close to impossible to pull, and though Watt was very easy, the others have been about as tough as it gets. Same goes for the SR POTW cards, which can be some of the rarest inserts due to how few people open the regular packs over the Boost or Signature packs.

The recent release of other packs like the Plaid pack and the Mystery pack will spur some collecting of these rarer cards, but its not going to be like Bunt. The sigs may have 500 copies, but they trade well regardless. I think that overall, the dynamic of the huddle economy for collectors is still quite the mystery and everyone is trying to figure it out for themselves.

Rookies

Best Packs: Boost Pack
Cost: 5000 coins
Cards: 3
Odds: 40% SR 60% SCR
Best cards to chase: Gold SR

Okay, I am going to pimp the boost pack again, because its still the best even in this situation. The difference here is the cards that the rookies should be chasing. Even though everyone will want to come on board and immediately be able to trade for sigs and blacks, its not going to be like that. First you need to build a collection.

The reason this pack is so important for rookies is that it provides the best shot at getting cards that score a lot of points. Scoring a lot of points means you can get more coins to open packs and get more cards. More cards equals more trade bait, which means more fun.

DO NOT OPEN THE INSERT SET OR SIG PACKS. Even though the Altitude and Vintage cards are pretty cool looking, you will not get the type of nourishment out of those packs than you will out of the boost pack. With a shot at a black boost, which you can trade for some NICE stuff.

Using a strategic approach to pack buying will give you much more satisfaction than you would expect, and it will ensure that you dont end up with a bunch of cards you couldnt care less about. Just open the boost packs until you run out of coins each week. Trust me on this. Build your collection before diving in elsewhere.

New Bunt Inserts Unwrapped – Topps Breaks Out the New Technology for October

To be completely honest, I was expecting something big for October, but I dont think I expected Bunt to release new types of cards. Im not talking about a new insert set or a new boost, but actually a new TYPE of card. We saw the first horizontal cards released earlier this year, but this is a completely different situation.

As of yesterday, the first two Parallax Effect based inserts were released, which when the feature is turned on for iOS, makes the image partially 3D. If you have an Apple device at home, go check these cards out, because these might be the future of the game, and they might not be done yet.

IMG_2212 IMG_2211

The two releases were James Shields for the Royals and Jon Lester for the As. I expect two more to be released today, but you never know. Each of the cards carry a 10x boost only for the Wild Card game, and were pretty rare pulls from what I was seeing. Honestly, the Parallax effect is much more interesting than the card itself, as it opens a lot of doors for the future of the game. Not because we should all be ridiculously excited for semi-3D cards, but because it shows that there is potential for creating cards that are more than just a picture image. I have always wondered when video cards and other effects would enter the realm of possibility, but the bandwidth needed to play them may not be as available right now. With these cards, its a step in the right direction.

Its unfortunate that the Lester card is only playable for one game 10x boost or not, as I think it presents a really cool chase for As fans to be able to use long term. We already saw the value of these cards in the upper stratosphere, as users were scrambling to get the 10x boost to score points to win the new Throwdown format transferred over from Huddle. Even though both Pitchers didnt exactly have lights out performances, these cards still scored over 1k points each.

Bunt and Kick obviously have a huge advantage with the ability to use licensed action shots, which means that there is a lot more to work with when creating cards of this nature. With Huddle, its basically a no go. Parallax head shots are not a big deal.

Im very interested to see what Bunt has in store for the coming weeks, especially leading up to the World Series. Who knows what they have in their back pockets. Animated GIFs have become very small files, you never know what is possible.

Gridiron Unwrapped – New Huddle Inserts 9/30

Its been a while since I have sat down and wrote out some of the new big inserts, but its mainly because of how few there have really been. Although the first HS based set was released, I think we are still at a relative trickle. Not sure how it will be turned on in the future, but hopefully more than it is now.

SR Luke Kuechly Signature

IMG_2201

Collectability: Extreme
Playability:football-helmet-psd42322

We were having a discussion over on the Bunt/Huddle/Kick forum and a few users were saying that they were expecting defense. They were right, and we got one of the more prolific defensive players in the league right now. Even though the Panthers have been struggling, its a lot because of their offense, as their defense is still playing well. Kuechly is the anchor there, and I know there are a lot of Panthers’ fans who were happy this is the way they went over another Cam sig. At the standard 500 copies, Im interested to see how this shakes out long term for value. Kudos to Huddle for using the design elements again, and not just adding the basic template over the gray headshot. It actually makes a big difference.

SR Jimmy Graham Black Boost

IMG_2200

Collectability: Extreme
Playability:football-helmet-psd42322football-helmet-psd42322football-helmet-psd42322

If I said to you last month that the Saints would start 1-3 and that their only win was a squeaker against the Vikings, you would tell me I was crazy. Jimmy Graham has still played well all things considered, but he hasnt gotten to the level he was at last season or before. He will, dont worry. This Black Boost is a tougher play though, as its not a QB or a RB who will get plays every series. Still the best TE to get though.

SR Matthew Stafford Black Boost

IMG_2204

Collectability: Extreme
Playability:football-helmet-psd42322football-helmet-psd42322football-helmet-psd42322football-helmet-psd42322

Although I am a bit upset that the Lions are getting two Black boosts before some teams even get one, Stafford is a high point guy who will be a worthy pickup for just about any player. On Sunday, this card cracked 3000 points, thanks to both long passing TDs and a Rushing TD. I would aim to get one of these before any of the others that have been put out. I would even put this ahead of Cutler despite his great games this season. Stafford should end up having a great season as long as he stays healthy. I was lucky enough to pull one, and it was a big reason I was able to survive despite a glitch with my plays.

Rising Stars Patterson and Manziel

IMG_2206 IMG_2207

Collectability: Strong and Good+
Playability (Patterson):football-helmet-psd42322football-helmet-psd42322football-helmet-psd42322
Playability (Manziel):football-helmet-psd42322

I like this series, even more so now that they are carrying boosts equal to their rarity. Patterson is a tough pull as a SR, but trading for him has game play elements with a 2x boost. It adds a level to the cards. Manziel has yet to play, and may not for a long time, so that should be factored in.

Golden Moments Brandon Marshall

IMG_2205

Collectability: Strong
Playability:football-helmet-psd42322football-helmet-psd42322

I think of all the head shot inserts, the Golden Moments look the best. Marshall is a popular guy, and plays well. I still have yet to figure out the long term value of these cards, but I think they should hold up better than people may think. There are only 500 per card, and that means that once the season award card is released, it will be tougher to come by. In Bunt, that really helped to spur some extra value. You never know though.

Set Overview – Vintage Collection

IMG_2202

When they did this in Bunt, I wasnt a huge fan because I thought the player pictures were kind of goofy. Now that Huddle is all head shots, the cards actually look better than some of the other inserts. The reduced card count as the release moved on was helpful in creating a nice value in the rarer cards, but the 6500 pack price was a complete joke. No way these should have been released in that fashion. For that reason alone, im passing.

Verdict: SELL!

Award Card Overview

IMG_2203

I was really happy to see that four award cards were given out last week relating to the Bowman, 1984, Men in Trenches and Kickoff sets. Not only were the cards extremely rare, but they were action shots as well. In fact, I think there was only one award card given out for Men in Trenches because the set was cut off so early. Really cool to see that they didnt switch to HS for this release, as many of the people that chased them gave up a lot. Here is how they hit the sheet.

1984 Reward: Luck (78 copies)
Bowman Reward: Bridgewater (105 copies – odd, because the last card was only 100)
Men in Trenches: Suh (1 copy!)
Kickoff: Russell Wilson (3 copies!)

Stay tuned for more updates as the weeks move on. Let me know your thoughts if you think I am way off on some of these.

Huddle Tip of the Day – Monday Night Primer

Like I did last thursday, I wanted to provide some help in who to trade for coming up for tonight’s game between the Pats and the Chiefs. There is a lot on the line for the game, as many of the points chases are really tight. Here is who I would chase.

Tom Brady

This is an obvious choice, as Tom Terrific rarely disappoints. His stats may be down through the first few games, but there is really no other person that is a better play at this moment for the Pats. To be honest, he is still one of the better pickups for QBs, even though his arsenal isnt what it used to be. The Pats always find a way.

Verdict: Vital Piece

Stevan Ridley

The Pats have used RB by committee for years, and its clear that their backs either have an INCREDIBLE night or a really poor night. Ridley is the one with a few more cards on the market and he could see some goal line carries if the Pats work it out right. Otherwise its Vereen, who has only the Black boost. I wouldnt play Ridley for any other game except this one or another nationally televised single game.

Verdict: Low Priority

Jamaal Charles

I think this is a risky play because he is coming off an injury, but its Jamaal Charles and you never know. The Pats’ rush defense hasnt been amazing so far, and he could see some nice runs. The issue is that Knile Davis is likely going to get most of the carries, as he has the hot hand. Davis has no cards as of yet, though. Charles should get better as the season goes on.

Verdict: Worth Picking Up

Alex Smith

Even though he has gotten the title of Game Manager, its not a bad thing. He isnt necessarily one of the QBs I would chase, but he rarely turns the ball over, and can be prone to some REALLY nice games. If Davis and Charles get going, it will open up the passing game all over the place. Im marking him as a low priority because I wouldnt play him in normal settings.

Verdict: Low Priority

Danny Amendola and Rob Gronkowski

Man oh man how I wish Julian Edelman had cards, but he doesnt. Gronk isnt himself, but still gets nice red zone looks. Amendola has been a ghost. If I had to choose, I would definitely chase Gronk, even with the arm situation. He might catch a pass TD or two, and that might make up for the lack of yardage. The Pats will be nationally televised again, so that makes the decision a bit tougher about how hard to go for them.

Verdict: Low Priority

New Postseason Cards – How Will This Change the Chase?

Last week, Bunt released the first batch of Post Season cards that are in place for the chase for the overall season championship. These cards are the mirrors of the base set for the teams they represent and the Super Rares carry an ENORMOUS boost on down. It creates a huge predicament for people who have played all year, as many of their cards now need to be replaced.

Design

Capture

I am a huge fan of the way these cards look. They definitely represent a different flavor than the base cards, and add an element of chase just in that regard. I think that it is something that is needed to differentiate the scoring, as ill discuss in a moment. Bunt’s design team really did a great job with these cards.

Playability

This is where things are going to get very dicey. VEEERRRRYYYYY dicey. All of the post season cards have a huge boost attached to them, as the commons will now score at 2x, with an increase in boost per rarity leading to the SR cards getting an insane 7x boost. This makes the cards ULTRA playable, which in turn devalues the regular season cards almost completely. Its almost like this is a brand new season, where the previous season’s cards become worthless. Not a great message to send to your top players who have build entire lineups around Black and Fire Boosts. These cards, which were once the top scoring players to covet for the post season are now replaced with uncommon and rare cards that score as much or higher, and are much more available to trade for.

Cost

I cant understand the way Bunt is doing this regardless of the cost of these packs, as the old cards should not have been cannibalized in this fashion. Its not a good strategy overall, will piss a lot of people off, and asks that users spend thousands more dollars for cards they already have. Obviously, Topps needed to find a way to keep the VIPs buying for the playoffs when most of them have 9+ of every playable card, and this is a surefire way to make that happen. I rarely want to use “Money Grab” or “Greed” in my assessment of these things, but it would have been much more acceptable to make single specific cards available in packs that carry bigger boosts. Redoing the whole card structure is not acceptable.

The issue is further exacerbated by the fact that the playoff packs are separated out, and require a 5000 coin purchase to get the chance at one card. I understand that the regular season cards are still valuable in that they are owned, but that doesnt excuse this pack strategy. It would have been far more acceptable to replace the current packs with new playoff packs that house nothing but these cards. That would have at least been less obvious of the above mentioned situations.

Strategy

Because of the existence of play in games, these first batch of playoff packs are extremely hard to justify. Two teams will only have 1 game where the cards are playable, and there is no reward *YET* for collecting every one. You have to pick your players with care, because the pendulum could swing one way and the card is out.

Its almost better to wait for the divisional packs to come out so that you know you will at least get 4 games out of your investment.

Target the same guys you normally would, as its clear that the pitchers at 7x are going to DOMINATE this format. Truncated timeframes of play mean that huge points from one guy could win you some a top spot in the rankings.

Overall

I have rarely been as frustrated with Bunt as I am with this new format, as this is such a hard pill for people to swallow. Although the switch from 2013 to 2014 was a similar shift, this is more rapid and without warning. Many people already guessed that 2013 cards would not be valuable in 2014 and stopped buying. This is completely different because of the boosts assigned to the cards.

I understand that money is important to maintaining the app, but there has to be logical uses of marketing strategy to get people to buy in. Using special inserts in lieu of giving SR playoff cards a 7x advantage makes things a bit comical.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but I am not a fan.

Huddle Tip of the Day: Thursday Throwdown Primer 9/25

With another Thursday Throwdown upon us, this might be the one week where the game boosts are going to be VITAL to even coming close. I am thinking about whether or not I want to participate, but it all depends on the cards. Here are my thoughts on who is worth chasing.

Kirk Cousins

I dont think there were many questions around Cousins’ potential after the last few weeks, and its clear that he needs a huddle card ASAP. He already has a BoH award card from last week, but they score like base and it is almost more valuable to pick up Morris and Garcon before them. Its likely that he will get the 5x game boost for Washington tonight, which might be the most valuable card to chase en masse. With no other boosted cards in the game, it will remain valuable even after it drops back to 2x.

Verdict: Vital Piece

Eli Manning

I am about as confident in Manning as I am in RGIII coming back and playing in this game. Although he played reasonably well last week, he has been a mess for a few YEARS now. Dont let one game fool you. Even if he comes back and has a good game this week too, its not worth chasing him for one night. Save your nice cards for another week.

Verdict: Unimportant

Alfred Morris

If Morris can get back on the horse, I would expect Washington to steamroll the Giants in this game. He has some cards available in both AS and HS, so he shouldnt be tough to locate. Trading for him is another story. Shoot for the HS reds and silvers and walk away stronger.

Verdict: Worth Picking Up

Victor Cruz and Reuben Randle

These guys have been on and off for most of the first three games, and if Eli cant get his stuff together, these two will be a wasted pickup. Its almost worth focusing more on Washington because I have much more confidence that they will be worth playing cards again.

Verdict: Low Priority

Pierre Garcon and Desean Jackson

If they both play, its worth having them on the bench to add into the game. You should have a contingency plan because Jackson has a bum shoulder and may not even play. Garcon should be a nice play if Jackson is out, maybe even if he is not. Lets be honest, the big play potential on Jackson is worth a look.

Verdict: Worth Picking Up

Rashad Jennings

Here is the thing. Jennings has no cards, and is a prime target for the game boosts. The Giants picked up chunks of yards last week thanks to Jennings and if he is on the sheet as a boost, pick them up. Go for it. He is going to get a good look tonight.

Verdict: Vital Piece

New Bunt Inserts Unwrapped – 9/25

Im a bit behind on a few of the inserts, and its clear that Bunt is really trying to push through to the end of the year with a bunch of releases. I think everyone is ready for the playoffs to start, and this week is the one last hurrah before it all goes down.

SR Adam Wainwright Signature Series

IMG_2172

Collectability: Extreme
Playability: CaptureCapture

Personally, I cant believe it took this long for the red birds to get a sig. Cardinals fans must be happy with the choice, especially because he is really the face of the franchise this year. At 700 copies, Im pretty surprised he isnt more rare, as I think that he deserves at least a 450 level sig. Even more interesting is the 15 card guaranteed sig pack for 500k, which is equivalent to $79.99. Considering I can honestly buy the card on eBay for like 25 bucks, that’s a bit outrageous for someone like me. For others who are black and diamond VIPs, getting close to 500K per week in bonus coins, that is a more easy price to pay.

SR Nelson Cruz VIP Black Boost

IMG_2171

Collectability: Extreme
Playability: CaptureCaptureCapture

I really dont like playing cards for hitters, even at this level, but now that its the playoffs, things are much different. Cruz hits a ton of HR, and does have a high enough average to consider playing this card. However, if you are really looking for a boost to pick up, you might just want to go nuts and spring for Trout fire. I think it will pay off bigger in the end. I bet the VIPs are pretty upset that this wasnt a pitcher like the previous few months.

Farewell Captain Series

IMG_2173

Collectability: Strong+ to Extreme
Playability: Capture

The only reason I am covering this set is because of the circumstances surrounding it, as Jeter’s career celebration is about to come to a close. I think its clear that Jeter is one of the most beloved players of all time, and there are a lot of Bunters who will definitely be chasing this set. I dont blame them. If I were a Jeter fan, I would be all over these. Really cool looking set.

Check back for more updates once the post season cards hit packs.

Huddle Tip of the Day – New VIP Program Announced

For those of you who didnt play Bunt, you are likely wondering what is up with the VIP program that was announced yesterday. Its something that all us Bunt-transfers have been waiting for, and I am glad it is structured very similarly to the sister program.

What is VIP?

This program is a reward program for the people who spend real money on the app. Think of it as a customer loyalty program like your credit card has. Spend enough real money and get some perks for doing so. Instead of airplane tickets and shopping sprees, they offer coins and special cards.

How Do You Become a VIP?

Well, to put it simply, spend some cash. Not just a 9.99 bundle here and there, but a good amount. Many of the Diamond VIPs (top level) can spend up to $1500 per month on Bunt, and Im not even joking. On huddle, I expect the spending to be down, but I doubt its by much. I can pretty much predict who the Diamond VIPs will be this month, and I would guess 3 or 4 is the number that will eventually qualify.

For Black, you are looking at a few hundred dollars to qualify, and that might even be low if the Bunt standards hold. The Black VIP is realistically the highest level someone can attain without really having an online sales strategy in place.

For gold, the cutoff is usually around a 500k to a million coins purchased, but it fluctuates just like every level does on a monthly basis. These levels are something that you should shoot for on a monthly basis, as the perks help out A TON with the gameplay.

What do you get?

Diamond VIPs get 5M coins delivered over the four weeks in installments. I would guess that is about 25% of their investment. Realize that they are not going to give you back more coins than you purchased, so keep that in mind. They also get a 1/1 card of their choice, access to a special pack with only inserts, and the other cards given to gold and black.

Black VIPs get 1M coins delivered over the four weeks, as well as access to a black VIP pack and the gold all pro card. They also get a black 3x boost that is determined by points for the month. These boosts in Bunt are some of the best cards in the game, and is a main reason why people go for these VIP statuses.

Gold VIPs get 250k coins (again about 25% of the investment to become gold) delivered over the four weeks, as well as access to a gold VIP pack with all golds. They get a gold All Pro card as well.

Lastly, there will be a VIP sig that will be released to the VIP packs, and everyone is rejoicing that this is the case after going most of the season in Bunt without this type of card. There may be other VIP exclusive inserts along the way too, but those have yet to be announced. In Bunt, they were special Bowman diamond cards.

Responding to criticism

I know that there are a lot of people that are likely unhappy that a program of this type exists, but with any pay to play player, they know its definitely a great perk. I mean seriously, do you really not expect them to take care of their best customers, especially with all the trouble that they go through each week? Cmon.

The other part of this stems from the fact that many pay to play players would still spend some of the money without the VIP program, and that this is an incentive to support the game more. It is really freaking expensive to run a game like Bunt, Huddle and Kick, and without the pay to play players, its likely the games would be a small fraction of what they are now.

Making money off the app allows for more players, more inserts, better design and more support. Although people complain about the many card releases and the customer service, imagine what it would be like  with no money flowing into the app. Not only would the service team be non-existent, but the game would have no flair. The VIP program repays the favor SLIGHTLY, and is a good way to generate more revenue.

You may be thinking, man who the hell is spending 1500 per month on this game? Well, there are people who have made this into a business and can make back a good portion of that money. Others have enough disposable income to make it work, and more power to them. I have mentioned previously that you can still have fun without spending money on the game, but it gets a lot better when you do. Its the same way with the actual cards you can buy in a store. This is a collecting based game, and whenever significant value is involved, spending money to be at the top is going to be a requirement. It is not mutually exclusive with playing along, and you can talk to users who have reached the top of the leaderboard through other means. It does require a ton of time, and many people dont want to deal with that.

Additionally, when VIP coins are sent, the people all tend to use them immediately. This means that for those couple of hours, the pack pulls are usually much more impressive. It should be easier to pull the rarer cards with more people opening, especially those gold cards that everyone has been chasing.

VIP Tips

Here are a few tips on making the most of your money:

  • Plan out your spending
  • Keep track!
  • Buy bigger bundles and get more for your money
  • Look for sales on Apple Gift Cards (target, eBay, etc)
  • Trade for the cards if you dont want to buy in
  • Buy the packs with the best odds
  • Target a specific month for VIP if you dont want to go all out for every month

Again, this is a program you can make work for you if you want it to, but it is not essential. It just helps out a ton when you get your VIP coins and there are really good packs in the store.

Bunt Tip of the Day – Post Season Bunt Update

I cant believe the season is already about over, as I remember back in April when this all started. It has been a wild ride for sure, one that has been both up and down. To think, since that time, I have posted close to 200 articles on this site. That is not something I expected to do.

If you havent updated the app recently, you havent seen the new splash screen that celebrates the new post season phase of Bunt. Its clear that there are going to be some crazy chases going on starting with the beginning of the playoffs, here are some expectations I would take into that blitz.

Post Season Sets

Last year, Bunt released a set of cards for each team that was in the post season. These cards had a new look and were only available in packs during the playoffs and most of the off season. From the screen shots now attached to the app store, we can see that there are going to be more of these come October, if not earlier.

What is still left to be determined is the the way the cards will be released. There is no indication as of late as to whether or not they will be rare inserts, easy inserts, or just as common as some of the rarer base. Based on what we are seeing with Bunt over the season, im guessing its going smaller sets of inserts that will run the whole spectrum of extremely rare to easy.

My bet is that the rarest card will be 250 copies and the most available will be 2000-2500. That means there will be a big reward in play for collecting all the cards.

Reward Sigs and Other Set Collection Rewards

Last year, there were boost signature cards that were given out for collecting all the post season sets, and I would guess it will be similar this year. One can hope that they are going to be giving out fire boost sigs, but its still unforeseen at this point. My only objection to this is the amount of time these cards will be playable, as its clear that many wont be released until the teams are already out of the playoffs. At that point, it would almost be better just to offer them as regular sigs.

Of course, all of that could change if 2014 cards are playable in 2015, but I doubt that will be the case.

In addition to the rewards for collecting the post season sets, there will also be playoff themed golden moment and other similar releases. We have already seen a “Farewell Captain” set, and I would guess there will be other cards that celebrate the history of the playoffs along the way.

Points Chase

IMG_2167

Last year, the one and only Lee Obrien won the whole thing, but I was not around the app enough to understand how the post season points chase worked. Im guessing it was similar to huddle, where the top players from each team played each other in a bracket style tournament, which may be back for another year.

However, with Bunt growing exponentially this year, its likely that there will be additional elements that stem from the entire community playing along. Dont check out just because you are not at the top.

The prize for both Huddle and Bunt last year was getting your own card, and I hope its back again. Its an honor that everyone should chase, and I dont think there are many that wouldnt want to be memorialized in the game they love. I know I would love it.

Bottom line, the Playoffs are going to be awesome, and I cannot wait for everything to start. Even though I have been engrossed in Huddle over the last few weeks, no one can avoid playoff fever for very long. Its just too exciting.

Huddle Tip of the Day – How Accurate Are Card Counts?

If there is one thing we all know, its that the action shot cards are going to be rare. Same goes for some of the inserts where the release came the day of or the day before the trouble that was two Mondays ago. The question is whether or not the card counts are correct, or if there is a pending update that will make the count an accurate portrayal.

Here is my theory:

There is either a deliberate lack of update to these card counts because of the issues facing the app, or there is just a longer list of priorities that are preventing the counts from updating. Considering that some of the cards were only in packs for a few days, it is definitely within the realm of possibility that the counts are correct. However, considering how many packs were likely opened on that Sunday with the huge insert releases, Im not buying it 100%.

Secondly, people are claiming that the lack of available users on the trade screen shows that there are little to no copies of the green, red and silver action shot cards, but I am not necessarily buying that 100% either. You never know until Huddle says something.

Value of the Rare Base Cards:

Bascially, these cards are needed to complete at least 4 to 5 award sets each, and that makes them worth about 5-7k coins a piece. Outside of that, many of them have very little value as a card by themselves. Because so many users will want to complete sets, they will trade like rare inserts, but I am not a person that is willing to make that trade. I would much rather keep my sigs and inserts than trade for a card that will get me those coins. Coins are easily replaced, where some of these inserts that people are asking for are not.

Value of the Rare Inserts:

This is where things can get dicey. Jordy Nelson Black Boost is currently sitting at 7 cards, but like mentioned above, im not 100% buying that number. If you are looking to pick one up for points, I would instead chase the golds, which were all over the rookie packs. Having the 3x vs the 2x gold isnt THAT huge a difference to give up a ton to get one of the “7” that are currently available. Doubly so for Jake Locker who is currently pretty banged up.

The Men in Trenches and other cards are on this list as well, as some of the cards ended up being below 10 in the count. I dont think that is unreasonable to believe, but at the same time, Im not a huge fan of these cards. With no real game value outside of rarity, im passing on chasing these too.

As for the Editor’s choice Manning and McCoy, things are a bit different. By collecting these cards, plus Watt, Sherman and next week’s card, you will get a reward, and with so few of the McCoy, it might be awfully tough to get them all unless you are going to give up the moon.

Lastly, when it comes to the Sigs, be very aware of what they represent. The rest of the sig cards are going to look like Gronk. That is not a good thing. The Rodgers and Lynch are great looking cards on their own, but now stand differently because of the action shot. Dont give them up without a fight if you have them. There will not be others like it.

Overall:

I get that people want to protect themselves, but I am not sure how that is going to work out. Im still waiting on a response back from Huddle on the card counts, but I understand that people arent going to budge unless they find out for sure. Its almost better to wait until that happens before you go chasing the rare base or the rare inserts.
